Employees Who Cannot (Or Will Not) Work: Balancing the ADA, Workers Compensation, and the FMLA.Certified labor/employment law specialists Andy Tanick and Alec Beck, partners at the Minneapolis office of the national firm of Ford & Harrison, will lead a lively discussion of how employers can deal with employees who are unable, or perhaps just unwilling, to work. Such employees have legal protection under workers compensation laws, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Family & Medical Leave Act, but those laws are all different and not necessarily consistent with one another. Alec and Andy will help employers learn to navigate through the maze of legal requirements and restrictions posed by these laws, in order to reduce the risk for costly legal claims. Presented by:

He has over 25 years of experience defending employment claims and helping businesses of all sizes develop effective policies and avoid litigation. Andy is a Labor and Employment Law Specialist, certified by the Minnesota State Bar Association.
- Alec Beck Partner, Minneapolis Office, Ford and Harrison, LLP Alec Beck regularly represents employers in proceedings before state and federal courts, the National Labor Relations Board, and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as various other agencies. Alec has always practiced exclusively in the areas of labor relations, employment law and workers' compensation. Alec also provides ongoing counsel and training for employers regarding human resource management, employee relations strategies, and the avoidance of employment-related disputes and liability.
