Learn about Heat Illness Prevention and AC 609 for your dealership.

The summer heat is blistering all across the US, and we have the hottest month of the year still to come! According to NIOSH in the last 15 years about 430 workers have died from exposure to environmental heat. Employers who have employees working outside or in non-air-conditioned areas must be aware of Heat Illness Prevention requirements from OSHA, and how to keep their workers safe in the heat.

Section AC 609 is another important area of summer compliance for dealers as more customers bring in their cars for air-conditioning repairs. The EPA states that employers must provide “adequate training on the service and repair of MVACs and MVAC–like appliances, refrigerant containment, refrigerant handling equipment, refrigerant purity, environmental consequences of refrigerant release, and adverse effects on stratospheric ozone layer depletion…” Do you have the right training for your employees?
